Boarding Director - Nanjing

The Opportunity
BASIS International School Nanjing is located in the city of Nanjing, one of the Four Ancient Capitals of China. It will open in September 2019 with five day boarding for students in grades 5-9. This is an opportunity for a Boarding Director to join a passionate and experienced team of educators and professionals who are dedicated to creating an elite boarding school in China, joining the BASIS Curriculum Schools network as we expand in China and throughout the world.

BASIS Curriculum Schools
BASIS Curriculum Schools were founded in 1998 in Arizona and have expanded throughout the United States and have more recently partnered with BASIS Global to establish a network of exceptional international schools in China. BASIS International School Nanjing will be the fifth BASIS International School in China to open, after BASIS International School Shenzhen opened in 2015, BASIS International School Guangzhou in 2017, and BASIS International Schools Park Lane Harbour and Hangzhou in 2018.

BASIS International School Nanjing
Opening in the fall of 2019, BASIS International School Nanjing will serve students in PreK - grade 9, and is expected to expand each year until it reaches a capacity of 1,200 students in PreK - grade 12. The school's facilities will include top-of-the-line classrooms, a gymnasium, track and field, heated indoor swimming pool, professional black box theater, Apple computer lab, and multipurpose activity center. The school's campus will be located in Nanjing's Xianlin University Town in the Qixia District--home to Qixia Mountain, numerous historical sites, a vibrant arts community, museums, and beautiful scenery along the banks of the Yangtze River.

Boarding Director Position
We are looking for a Boarding Director who has prior experience in this area. The ideal candidate will come from an English speaking country, because we will establish an English immersion environment on our campus. The ideal candidate will have local and international experience as a Boarding Director, preferably with some experience in China as well. The successful candidate will have experience with training, supervising, and growing boarding staff, and will be committed to a collaborative leadership model and willing to serve on the leadership team of the BASIS International School Nanjing.

The successful candidate will have extensive pastoral and inter-cultural experience, and will be a strong communicator, familiar with reaching out to parents and stakeholders and anticipating the challenges of founding a school and growing programs that meet the needs of our student population. The successful candidate will be highly familiar with implementing a House system of boarding, as well as the policies, procedures, and practices of founding and growing an elite boarding school.
