The American School is a private, independent school offering a bilingual, bicultural education to students from early childhood through grade 12. Students benefit from highly dedicated and talented teachers in a small school atmosphere, and a comprehensive dual curriculum (from both Mexican and United States) prepares them for life in some of the finest universities in the world. Founded in 1986 by local business leaders, the American School of Puerto Vallarta is a nonprofit, nonsectarian educational institution accredited by the U.S. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Mexican Ministry of Education, and the National University of Mexico. You can find out more about our school at aspv.edu.mx.

In recent years, one of the specific areas of development for us has been in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Through a combination of targeted recruitment, investment in professional development, community outreach efforts and the construction that is underway of a brand new STEM center on campus, we are progressing towards our mission of being a lead school for STEM education in the region.

We have worked hard to build a team of passionate and innovative educators to further develop our STEM department. Unfortunately our high school Science teacher has had to leave us due to some family circumstances, but this presents us with an opportunity to find an ideal candidate to further improve our team. A successful candidate would have experience in teaching Chemistry and Physics at a high academic level, and be able to teach Physical Science and Algebra at the Middle School level.

As our faculty will attest, ASPV is an exceptional place to work, one where our teachers are encouraged and supported to reach their professional goals. In addition to a salary that affords our teachers a good standard of living in the beautiful coastal town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico we offer housing, return flights every 2 years, major medical insurance, Christmas and summer bonuses and school scholarships for 2 of the applicant’s children.

We very much look forward to speaking to any suitable candidates.
