Role Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching in order to secure the highest standards of learning and achievement for pupils
Role Functions
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to suit the educational needs of all pupils.
- Be in classroom to receive class. Start and end lessons promptly. Classes should not be left unattended or dismissed early.
- To manage classroom discipline to maximise learning opportunities, involving all pupils in learning.
- To implement the Positive Behaviour Management plan.
- To take appropriate steps to meet health and safety requirements, ensuring pupil and personal safety at all times.
- Follow Program of Study, schemes of work, and policies to reflect curriculum policy.
- Ensure appropriate resources are used to support lesson, motivate pupils and improve teaching and learning.
- Integrate the ENC curriculum with Significant Learning outcomes in implementation
- To get to know pupils, to meet their needs and involve SENCO as appropriate.
- To implement guidance from EPs to meet requirements of subject and pupil need.
- To implement all school-related policies within the subject.
- To set and mark homework in line with school policy.
- Liaise with the Learning Managers, Heads of Department and department members to ensure consistency of standards, teaching and learning, development plans and target setting.
- Carry out pupil assessments in line with departmental and school policy. Record and monitor pupil progress, advising pupils how to improve.
- To evaluate, monitor and reflect on own teaching strategies and classroom performance to aim for performance improvement.
- To identify personal development needs in relation to SDP and identified initiatives.
- To attend appropriate in-service courses as required, work should be left for classes when absence is planned. To complete evaluation form on return and pass to Vice-Principal or Principal.
- To supervise pupils whilst covering for absent colleagues in timetabled room.
- Other reasonable tasks as required
