Secondary Teacher:  Business Management and Mathematics Teacher (Key Stage 3-5)

Urgent vacancy due to a teacher withdrawing for a family emergency. 

The post holder should at all times promote the vision and philosophy of the school, a copy of which is given to all staff. While this job description lists areas of personal responsibility, the post holder interacts on a professional level with colleagues and, with them, seeks to improve the quality of learning in the school.

The post holder shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher, which will include responsibility for the following:

  • The preparation and delivery of the assigned curriculum and lessons that contain appropriately designed assignments and activities, and which challenge and meet the individual needs of all students 
  • The promotion of student learning by creating and maintaining a stimulating, challenging and safe learning environment
  • Promotion of the well being of students, collectively and individually
  • Performing the duties of a form/class tutor
  • To be involved in the process of staff appraisal through self-appraisal and an evaluation by an appraisor
  • Familiarisation with, and the following and implementation of all adopted school policies
  • Supervisory duties as assigned by the Director or Section Head
  • Participation in teams, groups, meetings, workshops and other sessions, with the aim of contributing to the development of the educational programme
  • To conform to the administrative procedures of the school: completion of attendance records, mark books, and reports; punctuality; attendance to meetings, assemblies; cleanliness of classroom
  • To contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum
  • Maintenance of good standards of behaviour in accordance to the (school’s) code of conduct and associated codes 
  • The referral of serious disciplinary problems to the HOS
  • The assessment and recording of individual student progress as applied to assigned lessons 
  • The issue, control and invidulation of examinations and the recording of these results for personal use and for the following years teacher 
  • The setting of stimulating and challenging daily homework tasks - Monday to Friday 
  • The production and timely submission of reports, for assigned classes, as per the reporting schedule 
  • Control and oversight of the economic use and storage of all teaching materials used in the preparation and delivery of assigned lessons
  • To adhere to school hours for teaching staff: 07:30 to 16:00 
  • To inform HOS of absenteeism or late arrival 
  • If aware of an upcoming absence, to ensure that sufficient and appropriate lesson plans and work are provided for teachers covering lessons
  • Creating and maintaining an appropriate relationship with students and all members of staff in the school 
  • Consultation and collaboration with parents throughout the school year as well as at official parent consultation times, on all issues concerning their child’s educational progress 
  • The timely submission of required administrative returns and records  - paz y salvo 
  • Correct channels of communication to be followed  
  • Appropriate dress 
  • To follow appropriate procedures with regard to grievances or complaints 
  • Attendance to all school community events, e.g. Bonfire Night, during or after school hours
  • Attendance to the school Sports Day (Saturday)
  • Attendance to all school assemblies
  • The planning and running of at least one extra curricular activity as required 
  • To make every effort to learn the host country language through Spanish classes offered by the school
  • Any reasonable request made by the Head of Section and / or the Director
