  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, preferably Master’s.
  • Five years or more of successful PYP/MYP teaching experience, plus a minimum of two years of experience as an IB Coordinator working and leading staff in curricular areas.
  • Valid Teaching License.
  • Extensive knowledge of IB PYP/MYP Standards and Practices.
  • Knowledge of and training in the use of a variety of classroom instruction strategies including differentiation, inquiry, and concept-based instruction.
  • Demonstrate experience in the use of data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Strong curriculum and instruction content knowledge including literacy and/or math.
  • Understand a variety of forms of assessment to inform instruction.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of instructional software packages and IB’s On-line Curriculum Center.
  • Experience in leading staff development activities with adults.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners, EGA staff, and leadership team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to working effectively with culturally, economically, and socially diverse students and families.
  • Demonstrate prompt, regular, and reliable attendance.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.

Coordinate implementation and evaluation of IB (PYP/MYP) including continuous improvement and on-going support for curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure a high-quality program is in place for all students to continuously improve their conceptual understandings, skills, and knowledge.

 

Job Functions

MUST HAVE UNDERGONE IB TRAINING LEVEL 1, 2 AND 3

  • Lead the transformation and continuous improvement of the curriculum to one that is engaging, relevant, challenging, and significant.
  • Ensure that the PYP/MYP is planned, taught, and assessed collaboratively including the development of approaches to learning in global contexts.
  • Develop, document, and communicate the unit planners.
  • Collaborate with teams of teachers to embed current content standards throughout the PYP/MYP.
  • Assist staff in interdisciplinary lesson development.
  • Work with school staff on the continual implementation of the IB Standards and Practices.
  • Provide mentoring support for new teachers and staff.
  • Responsibility for gathering evidence and completing documents for program evaluation.
  • Meet and work regularly with IB Regional Coordinators and the EGA’s leadership team to implement the continuum of IB programs with fidelity and ensure seamless transitions for students.
  • Ensure PYP/MYP-related assessment principles and criteria are made explicit to students, parents, and staff.
  • Assist staff in implementing culturally relevant instructional strategies in order to address the needs of all students.
  • Promote the integration of technology as a tool for improving student engagement and achievement.
  • Coordinate developing and maintaining formative and summative assessments in all curricular areas.
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of new and ongoing programs aimed at expanding learning opportunities for all students.
  • Assist in the selection and design of instruments and procedures for curricular materials, best practice instructional strategies, and assessment tools.
  • Work with EGA and building Staff Development committees to identify, organize, and offer professional learning opportunities.
  • Participate in the wider IB community, including network meetings, blogs, discussion forums, and hosting visitors.
  • Be familiar with and promote understanding of PYP/MYP documents to the community including newsletters, marketing materials, and websites.
  • Assist in coordinating and developing a professional development program focused on improving student learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND

EGA is an IB PYP accredited school, an MYP Candidate, and a CIS member school that offers an advanced education model in Doha, Qatar in addition to the Qatari Curriculum for the Arabic Language, Islamic, and Social Studies. As of the academic year 2022/2023, we provide schooling to Pre-KG to Grade 8 students, and we plan for natural growth up to grade 12 in successive years.

SCHOOL CAMPUS

The school operates out of a purposely built campus situated on a 60,000 square meter land plot in the Northside of Doha. As of the academic year 2023/2024, our enrollment is nearly 1,600 students; however, the school campus' total enrollment capacity is 4,650 students.
