  • Previous experience in elementary curriculum development and teacher coordinator is a plus
  • Leadership (ability to supervise at least 5 or more persons)

  • USD $2,800/month for 1st yr, USD $3,080/m for 2nd yr, USD$3,388/m for 3rd yr
  • Medical Insurance premiums (up to 800 USD per year) reimbursed at the completion of each year service

Learning Jungle International School is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Elementary Program Coordinator for its growing elementary (Gr. 1 – 6) campus in Phnom Penh. The school follows the Canadian Ontario Curriculum.

First Year Job Expectations:

The Coordinator will work primarily as an Elementary Classroom teacher (Maximum of 20 Hours teaching per week). Below are the job duties when serving as a classroom teacher:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and love for young children and enthusiasm for developing a happy, creative atmosphere for the children.
  • Plan, develop, conduct and monitor courses for presentation to students according to approved curriculum keeping in view the individual learning needs of the children
  • Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and their school readiness
  • Prepare, administer and correct tests
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips
  • Assign and correct homework
  • Evaluate the progress of students and discuss progress results with students, parents and school Management team.
  • Write report cards and maintain assessment records per school requirement
  • Meeting/communicating with parents (e.g. during parent-teacher meetings or as needed) and ensuring concerns about their child’s needs are addressed to the satisfaction of the parents in a timely manner
  • Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
  • Establishing and maintaining a warm supportive relationship with the families of the children.
  • Develop course materials and curriculum content
  • Keeping accurate and current, the records as required by the School
  • Attending weekly meetings, school event and professional development and Parent-Teacher meetings as requested
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at teacher meetings
  • Being responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating environment for children in the assigned classroom and for the School
  • Establish and maintain a warm supportive relationship with families of the children
  • Perform other tasks requested

Apart from the primary work duties as a classroom teacher during the first year of service, the coordinator will serve as Lead Elementary Teacher and represent School in the media and public event per school request. Below are the main job duties when serving as the Lead Elementary Teacher:

  • Be empathetic and flexible to the cultural needs, and to the needs of a new school, and work with management to help develop school
  • Setup, review, improve and implement the evaluation system to be used to evaluate the student learning in each grade level
  • Participating in special events/media to promote the school as requested by the School management
  • Be a leader/mentor for the elementary teachers
  • Help elementary teachers through challenging and difficult situations and help them achieve their best
  • Plan and conduct regular teacher meetings
  • Assist elementary teachers in the development of curriculum, lesson plans and activities

Second Year Job Expectations:

The coordinator will work primarily as Elementary Program Coordinator. Below are the job duties of the Elementary Program Coordinator:

  • Planning for upcoming elementary teacher staffing requirements, selecting and short-listing candidates for hiring and ensure to fill the elementary teacher vacancy on a timely basis
  • Be empathetic and flexible to the cultural needs, and to the needs of a new school, and work with management to help develop school
  • Ensure that the teaching quality of the teachers under responsibility comply with the 
    requirements of the Ontario curriculum adopted by the School on a timely basis
  • Setup, review, improve and implement the evaluation system to be used to evaluate the student learning in each grade level to make sure that the teaching quality is up to the Ontario curriculum
  • Be a leader/mentor for the teachers
  • Help teachers through challenging and difficult situations and help them achieve their best
  • Conduct teaching staff training
  • Evaluate teachers as required by the policies
  • Plan and conduct regular teacher meetings
  • Assist teachers in the development of curriculum, lesson plans and activities
  • Meeting/communicating with parents per school/parent request and ensuring concerns about their child’s needs are addressed to the satisfaction of the parents in a timely manner
  • Participating in special events/media to promote the school  in the community as requested by the School management

The coordinator will serve as a fill-in teacher due to unforeseen teacher absence/emergency leave. Below are the job duties when working as a fill-in teacher:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and love for young children and enthusiasm for developing a happy, creative atmosphere for the children.
