Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for classes as designated by Principals
  • Prepare and decorate the classroom for class activities
  • Establish and communicate clear learning intentions for all activities and help students become independent learners
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Evaluate learning experiences and outcomes; write assessments fairly
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments carefully and fairly
  • Reteach where necessary or appropriate
  • Ensure that tasks are within the capabilities of all students
  • Cater for individual differences and provide for a variety of learning models, groupings and after school tuition
  • Share responsibility for the pastoral care and wellbeing of all students. Collaborate with Chinese Co-teacher and Learning Facilitator to set up class procedures and use the Golden Rules to help students develop morals and values
  • Use and manage the Learning Facilitator to improve teaching and learning

  • Have a thorough understanding of the purpose and aims of HD Ningbo School Curriculum
  • Ensure that teaching and learning is aligned with the school’s current Scope and Sequences
  • Establish a classroom environment where students feel secure and are comfortable to take risks
  • Ensure that classroom/school resources are well managed
  • Ensure standards of acceptable behaviour are clearly stated and consistently and fairly applied
  • Ensure all students are treated with respect; fairly and equally.  Deal with students’ arguments impartially and respect the character of each student
  • Ensure that the classroom is an attractive orderly place where equipment/resources are well managed

Connections with Students:

  • Create an effective and challenging learning environment for each student
  • Acknowledge student’s improvement and effort
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback on work
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including student support, counselling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  • Establish a rapport which enhances learning
  • Take care of student’s psychological health. Consider student’s safety and health so every student has a healthy mind and body
  • Keep a professional distance from students and parents

Communication and Cooperation:

  • Work co-operatively and supportively with other staff
  • Liaise with each subject teacher and cooperate with them to have deep understanding of the study habits, morals, life, character and interests of each student
  • Discuss the daily arrangement with Chinese Homeroom teacher. There must be at least one teacher on duty during the morning reading, snack and releasing time
  • Arrange with Learning Facilitator to have at least one period per week to mentor them; Mentor Learning Facilitator and give class management experience and help them develop in managing students
  • Communicate regularly with families through Parent/Teacher Conferences, Homework Diary, email or WeChat to develop a supportive and productive relationship with parents
  • Share information, ideas and resources with colleagues

Administrative Function:

  • Fulfill the administrative functions of the class, eg. attendance, check Homework Diary/emails, etc.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
  • Share assessment data and ensure it is archived
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers in a timely fashion regarding student progress
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities

Contribution to the School Community

  • Play a full part in the corporate life of the school including school and social activities
  • Support the school’s image in the community
  • Support policies and procedures currently in place including those in the Staff Handbook
