Job Description:

Position Summary:

The ESL Instructor will teach academic English language courses and scientific communication skills courses to graduate students from over 100 countries who are studying in the fields of science and technology. Position also includes English language test administration and scoring for the Admissions Office, and the provision of English language support services to students.

Major Responsibilities:

Prepare lesson plans and teach English grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Teach scientific research writing and scientific presentation skills
Teach ESP short courses and workshops on a range of subjects including businesses communication skills, presentation skills, scientific writing, scientific poster creation and presentation, speed reading, speaking and communication, and academic vocabulary development, among others
Curriculum development
Provide one-on-one writing and speaking support to students within and without the ESL program
Administer the Institutional TOEFL test and score writing tests
Conduct and rate oral interviews
Proofread and edit manuscripts, including theses and dissertations, from students from across the university
Actively participate in team meetings and support the ongoing development and improvement of the English language program
Participate in other university events and activities as assigned
