Work Visa Eligibility: United States (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Canada, South Africa, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand

Additional School Requirements:

Love education, children and teaching
Must have the ability to keep a professional, mature and positive attitude, a good level of endurance and enjoy teaching students from ages 3-12
Lively personality, passionate, dedicated and engaging
A 120+hr ESL teaching certificate (ex: TEFL, TESL, TOEFL, etc.)
Fluent English speaker with North American accent
Good oral and written English skills (Carden China teaches using the Carden Method®, a phonetic system based on the American pronunciation. Therefore, we can only accept Native-English speakers from North America.)
Non-Criminal Background Check (Beijing requires teachers applying for the Foreign Expert Visa to supply a Criminal Background Check with proof of no prior criminal record through your local police department or the FBI. More information on this process can be found on your state's website as well as the FBI website.)

Carden China is seeking dedicated, energetic, dependable and mature flexible teachers who love teaching. Our accelerated elementary English program is currently being used to teach Grades K-6.

What makes our teaching positions different?

Carden China is a stable and established language program, located on the campus of a private Chinese International school in the Haidian District of Beijing. Since 2001, Carden China has used the Carden Method to teach English to Chinese elementary students in Beijing China. Carden China teaches English to over 1000 students each year. We are “student-focused" not “business-focused”. We work side by side with Chinese teachers to ensure that each student’s learning experience is as productive and joyful as it can be. This partnership and use of the Carden Method gives our students a proven advantage in learning English over traditional ESL methods.

With our English program, the students are taught using 4 main lessons; Reading, Dictation, Spelling, and Composition. The foreign teacher and Chinese co-teacher both have their roles with teaching, grading and preparing. There are other activities and exercises that take place as well to help engage and create critical thinking scenarios for the students. The lessons are designed to create a scaffolding system, letting the student build upon there learning experience from one year to the next.

Pre-job training in the Carden Method® is provided for each and every teacher and the average primary class has 20 students.

Our class sessions usually take place between 7:30 and 4:30, M-F for primary classes and 8:30-5:10 M-F for kindergarten classes. Note: These are the current school year times and have/are subject to change. As well, there are times throughout the school year when we are required to work on the weekend to make up for holiday or school break schedule adjustments.
