The Director of Academics is responsible for overseeing, coaching and supporting classroom teachers to ensure that all High School students reach their highest academic potential. The Director of Academics will work with principals, teachers, parents, and students to promote student learning.
Reporting to Executive Principal, the Director of Academics will:
- Work closely with the principals to establish a strong achievement centered culture;
- Coach all teachers to excellence using data to inform decisions;
- Ensure the functionality of systems that support student achievement and design targeted individual and group professional development for teachers.

Responsibilities:
The Director of Academics is responsible for working with the principals to evaluate, enhance, and expand academic offerings with the following primary responsibilities:
- To observe, supervise, and help the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum
- To contribute a program to challenge gifted students to achieve to their highest potential
- To build a culture of sharing of effective practices among instructional staff by facilitating cross-class observations, co-planning sessions, and ad-hoc meetings as necessary
- To lead the school’s standards-based instructional and assessment strategies to build and support a data-driven culture where assessments are used to increase achievement and student learning
- To provide individual and school-wide instructional coaching that is data-driven while ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with the relevant standards and assessments
- To coordinate in-house, and external assessments
- To provide data to parents and other internal and external stakeholders related to academic evaluation and assessment, testing, academic procedures, and academic offerings
- To create and monitor a comprehensive professional development plan for all teachers that includes orientation and mentoring of new teachers
- To serve as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures; to work with teachers on areas of weakness as well as best practices
- To assist with the textbook review and purchasing process
- To make recommendations to the principals regarding the hiring, retention and assignment of faculty
- To contribute to the guidance function of the school, including scheduling of students, academic advising and college counseling

About Vanke Bilingual School
Shanghai Vanke Bilingual School grew out of the International Bilingual Program of Fudan Vanke Experimental Private School. At present, there are students from 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Britain, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Mainland China.
Founded in 2006, International Bilingual Program . We aims to merge the Chinese education essence with Western education essence. We cultivate students the international perspective and international communication ability in hand while rooting in Chinese culture. The Chinese teaching and English teaching respectively accounts for 50%.
Small class size with 20 students contributes to an intimate and harmonious teacher-student relationship. Every child is respected as an individual learner. They are fully cared and encouraged by the adult staff at school.
Through practice and exploration, students are equipped with not only good learning habits, but also diversified thinking ability. The Chinese-English language ability of the grade-6 students has reached the level of twin mother-tongues. In Chinese language ability examination, the students are among the best of Minhang district. The English proficiency assessment of the students is based on the American ITBS. According to the historical test performance, students of every grade are better than American students of the same age in English proficiency. The test scores of Grade 9 students exceed the average scores of the American Grade 10 students.
