Eligible Candidates:
- Experience working as a School Psychologist/Counselor. Knowledge of learning difficulties and how to support students with various needs, both social-emotional and academic.
- Experience with teenagers and knowledge of High School Students’ developmental needs and challenges.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Psychology.
- Master's degree with a focus in Counseling (preferably)
- Some training in Special Needs.
Requirements:
- 2 years of work experience within a school in the Counseling department and/or learning
- Support environment or working with students with various difficulties.
- Having an excellent command of English and Spanish is an essential requirement for this position.
- Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of children with diverse personal, emotional, and academic needs.

Job Description:
We’re looking for a talented and passionate High School counselor to help foster a caring and supportive learning environment for our students. The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organizational and technical skills who is happy to contribute and lead initiatives within a successful and supportive department. This person will develop and implement a counseling program to assist students in their personal, social, and academic development. This person will hold both roles as a High School counselor and part-time IB Psychology teacher.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Are knowledgeable of High School age students’ academic, social and emotional development.
- Have the ability to have counseling sessions with students, and make follow-ups as appropriate for each student’s emotional/social/academic needs.
- Are highly capable of providing support within an international school community.
- Are highly organized and flexible, Encanto prioritizes workload.
- Possess strong communication skills in English (and preferably, also in Spanish), and experience working with staff and families.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are tactful and diplomatic with the ability and experience to handle sensitive situations effectively.
- Inspire students of all ages and abilities, and advocate for them.
- Can collaborate and contribute effectively with other teachers, parents, and external therapists or agencies
- Can respond effectively to crises affecting students and faculty
The job duties include, amongst others:
- Counseling individuals and groups as required to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately referring students to other support services and mental health professionals or external specialists as needed.
- Listeningstudents'ents' concerns regarding social, academic, or personal circumstances and providing students with support and guidance on how to deal with problems.
- Recognizing and appropriately taking care of individual students' socio-emotional challenges
- Mediating and improving relationships between students, parents, and teachers.
- Carrying out individualized and small group interventions
- Consulting and collaborating with other teachers to develop appropriate academic/ behavioral goals and monitor students’ progress
- Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to assist and support accommodations and differentiation in the classroom
- Working familiarity with student assessment tools, especially in interpreting standardized test results.
- Conducting assessments to determine students' strengths, weaknesses, interests, and aptitudes.
- Attending staff and department meetings
- Attending parent-teacher conferences along with other staff members
- Working closely with external support providers to ensure that identified students are receiving adequate and appropriate support
