The classroom teacher works collaboratively to plan, deliver, and assess the AIS curriculum through the IBO.   

Duties towards the school

  • Attending and participating in all faculty meetings and general assemblies
  • Taking all necessary safety and precautionary measures to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Supervising students out of the classroom and be responsible for maintaining that area as assigned by administration
  • Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations inside and outside the classroom
  • Participating in pertinent in-service programs, to take courses to upgrade instructional level, staff development and to maintain license/certification
  • Observing guidelines (censorship) established by the administration in accordance with the instructions of the Kuwait Ministry of Education, which governs the presentation of subject matter, taught
  • Posting updated units on ATLAS
  • Ensuring resources are current; support the AIS curriculum and the IBO-DP guidelines
  • Collaborating with course similar teachers to ensure consistent curriculum and assessments for students regardless of section or teacher

Student related duties

  • Demonstrating skill in the subject area taught
  • Providing planned instruction to students, to monitor performance daily and provide corrective feedback throughout the learning process
  • Developing long and short range plans for instruction
  • Showing written evidence of preparation for classes, both long and short range
  • Varying instructional techniques and instructional materials to suit learning styles, motivation levels, needs, and capabilities of the students
  • Exhibiting knowledge and understanding of individual students
  • Assessing student achievement levels using both formative and summative assessments based on the material covered in class
  • Developing and implementing a classroom management scheme which emphasizes a tidy and orderly classroom learning environment
  • Testing and evaluating student’s abilities, record grades, check and register attendance, send Progress Reports to parents, enter grades on report cards and Grade Book as specified by the administration
