Job Description:

The classroom teacher works collaboratively to plan, deliver, and assess the AIS curriculum through the IBO.

Duties towards the school

Attending and participating in all faculty meetings and general assemblies
Taking all necessary safety and precautionary measures to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Supervising students out of the classroom and be responsible for maintaining that area as assigned by administration
Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations inside and outside the classroom
Participating in pertinent in-service programs, to take courses to upgrade instructional level, staff development and to maintain license/certification
Observing guidelines (censorship) established by the administration in accordance with the instructions of the Kuwait Ministry of Education, which governs the presentation of subject matter, taught
Posting updated units on ATLAS
Ensuring resources are current; support the AIS curriculum and the IBO-DP guidelines
Collaborating with course similar teachers to ensure consistent curriculum and assessments for students regardless of section or teacher

Student related duties

Demonstrating skill in the subject area taught
Providing planned instruction to students, to monitor performance daily and provide corrective feedback throughout the learning process
Developing long and short range plans for instruction
Showing written evidence of preparation for classes, both long and short range
Varying instructional techniques and instructional materials to suit learning styles, motivation levels, needs, and capabilities of the students
Exhibiting knowledge and understanding of individual students
Assessing student achievement levels using both formative and summative assessments based on the material covered in class
Developing and implementing a classroom management scheme which emphasizes a tidy and orderly classroom learning environment
Testing and evaluating student’s abilities, record grades, check and register attendance, send Progress Reports to parents, enter grades on report cards and Grade Book as specified by the administration
