Seeking Learning Support Coordinator!
The Canadian School Bahrain is a not-for-profit, private international school offering the British Columbia, Canada curriculum.
The Canadian School Bahrain will implement a whole-child approach to learning that will enhance the academic, Social, Physical, Emotional & Educational needs of each student.
The core competencies are the intellectual, personal, and social skills that all students need to develop for success in life beyond school. B.C. has identified three core competencies as essential for all learners:
- Communication and Collaboration
- Creative Thinking and Critical Thinking
- Positive Personal and Culture Identity and Personal Awareness and Responsibility
The role of the Learning Support teacher will be to:
- Support vulnerable and exceptional students and ensure teachers have strategies to assist students in the classroom
- Ensure all students with learning needs have effective IEPs
- Create school-wide programs to meet literacy and numeracy goals
- Create lessons and train EAs(teachers) for intervention classes
- Track student progress across grades in numeracy and literacy
- Connect with the teacher on student progress in class
- Observing and documenting learning situations in classrooms;
- Ensuring sufficient opportunities in the classroom for student self-assessment
- Build capacity in classrooms around differentiated instruction and classroom management
- Completing appropriate reports
- Providing an analysis of students' performance data

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's and or Master's Degree in Education with specialization in Special Needs, Reading Interventions, Students with Exceptionalities, Inclusion
- A teaching certificate from BC or another Canadian province OR Have a teaching certificate from a foreign English-speaking jurisdiction and meets the requirements of the British Columbia Teachers Regulation Branch (5-year undergraduate degree taken in English and a teaching certificate)
- Energetic, creative, and have the fortitude to meet the challenges of a quickly growing school
- Understand a personalized approach to learning and assessment
- Well-versed in classroom teaching using differentiated strategies and classroom management
- Well versed in 21st-century teaching and learning

This integrated educational program will be taught by British Columbia Certified Teachers working together with Bahraini Certified Teachers for Social Studies and Citizenship, Moral Studies, and Arabic Language.
