We are seeking candidates who:

  • Have a successful record of collaborative teaching in areas of Special Education: providing tailored learning programs for students with mixed ability learning needs.
  • Are knowledgeable of Preschool, Lower School and Middle School age students’ academic, social and emotional development.
  • Have the ability to work with students one-to-one, in small groups, and/or the whole class.
  • Are highly capable of providing support within an international school community.
  • Are highly organized and flexible, and are able to prioritize workload.
  • Possess strong communication skills in English (and preferably, also in Spanish), and experience working with staff and families.
  • Have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Inspire students of all ages and abilities, and advocate for them.
  • Is a committed and highly effective professional, dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome for each child.
  • Has the ability to collaborate and contribute effectively with other teachers, parents, and external therapists.
  • Are tactful and diplomatic with the ability and experience to handle sensitive situations effectively.
  • 2 years of work experience within a Learning Support environment or working with students with difficulties.
  • A good level of Spanish needed
  • Having an excellent command of English is an essential requirement for this position.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of children with diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, ethnicities, and abilities.

We’re looking for a talented individual to help foster a caring and supportive learning environment for our students. The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organizational and technical skills who is happy to contribute and lead initiatives within a successful and supportive department. This candidate should have the ability to overcome all aspects of learning and engagement barriers that some of our students face, as well as understand and support the importance of emotional wellbeing.

 

The job duties include, amongst others:

  • Creating intervention plans at the beginning of the school year tailored to the needs of the students and assessing their progress throughout the school year.
  • Carrying out individualized and small group interventions
  • Consulting and collaborating with other teachers to develop appropriate academic/ behavioral goals and monitor students’ progress
  • Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to assist and support differentiation in the classroom
  • Attending staff and department meetings
  • Attending parent-teacher conferences along with other staff members
  • Working closely with external support providers to ensure that identified students are receiving adequate and appropriate support
  • A good level of Spanish needed
