All candidates should have a minimum of a 4-year college degree in their teaching field. Candidates not holding teacher certification, but with teaching experience relevant to a teaching assignment will be given consideration. Preference is given to candidates with teacher certification.

- Ensuring that Met PILLARS are embedded in the unit planning
- Work with teachers and other personnel in developing and identifying a curriculum that has a vertical and horizontal alignment.
- Coordinate lesson plans and explanations for all grades.
- Develop termly grade level homework and assessment plan.
- Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment that is conducive to student’s learning.
- Identify subject matter specific field trips.
- Hold department meetings with the Math Teachers.
- Propose curricular purchases.
- Planning of the participation of the subject examination for Met students.
- Inspire trust and confidence with students and parents.
- Participate in staff meetings as required.
- Support the Metropolitan School administration in promoting the ethos of the school.
- Incorporate the use of media and technology.
- Identify, time table, and share common assessments.
- Support teachers who struggle academically.
- Coach and hold professional development for the Mathematics department.
- Identify time table request to ride in the scheduling process.
- Use common assessment data to identify struggling students and develop an AIP to address students’ needs.
- Set individual targets for students and teachers
- Maintain ongoing curriculum communication with parents and families.
- Observe all teachers in specific areas and identify students’ areas of development.
- Plan and coordinate a CCA program for weak and strong students
- Coordinate the materials and manipulatives for the subject and monitor their utilization.
- Teach classes as assigned
- Make a weekly report to principal on progress/stumbling blocks
- Follow up to ensure the validity of grades input on Rediker/report cards revision.
- Ordering resources/supplies/books for their department.
- Report to school on August 1st
- Students’ Supervision duties as assigned (Recess, Lunch…etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
