Duties and Responsibilities
- To display a wide variety of teaching strategies that meet individual student needs and abilities
- Effectively meets the learning needs of late-entering students, ESL students, students with low academic ability and those who are gifted and talented
- Skillfully uses verbal and non-verbal forms of communication
- Previews and communicates learning objectives to students in a clear, logical and sequential manner
- To display evidence of excellent preparation for classroom instruction
- Uses appropriate examples and illustrations to motivate the abilities and interests of students
- Creates and uses appropriate materials for instructional purpose
- Assesses and adjusts the classroom setting to provide for a variety of learning styles
- Provides a range of information which enriches the curriculum
- Draws from a different and varied instructional resources to enhance lessons; instruction and content is not driven by the basal textbook
- To display competence and confidence in using media and technology
- Effectively uses computer instruction, when appropriate, for both self and students in order t integrate and enhance classroom lessons
- Seeks ongoing computer staff development opportunities
- To plan and implement strategies that encourage student self-discipline, reinforce appropriate behavior, manage disruptive behavior constructively and allow for grouping of students in the most efficient way to support learning objectives
- Skillful in keeping students on the learning task

Terms of Employment
Directed by Board adopted Professional Salary Schedule, School Calendar, and Teacher Contract.
Performance Evaluation
Job performance will be evaluated by the Principal or Director in accordance with Board policy and implementing regulations.
The International School Yangon (ISY) is a Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 school. ISY offers an education using a U.S. based curriculum, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) in grades eleven and twelve. ISY is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the United States. The majority of students who graduate from ISY matriculate to colleges and universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and other European and Asian countries. Located in Golden Valley, in Bahan Township, approximately 800 students attend ISY. The school is managed by a Director who is hired by the Board of Trustees.
ISY has 230 faculty and staff of which approximately 100 are international hires. Employees should be able to access health services through an international network and in Myanmar.
