Chester-Joplin-Inverness Public Schools

Through a shared commitment, the mission of Chester-Joplin-Inverness School District is to help all students reach their full potential and to promote learning as a life-long process.

CJI Public Schools serve the rural Montana communities of Chester, Joplin, and Inverness in beautiful north central Montana, where agriculture meets Montana’s excellent quality of life and recreation. Abundant with hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, water skiing, boating, and much more.

The Chester-Joplin-Inverness School is located in Chester, north central Montana, Liberty County, and is known as the Heart of the Hi-Line.

Chester has approximately 1,000 people and boasts numerous businesses, including grocery stores, a lumber yard, grain elevators, a hardware store, auto repair, gas stations, restaurants, banks, and motel/B&B. Chester is the county seat of Liberty County located 90 miles north of Great Falls, 40 miles east of Shelby, 60 miles west of Havre, and 43 miles from the Canadian border. Most of the county is characterized by rolling prairies, with the Marias River breaking up the terrain and Tiber Dam forming Lake Elwell 13 miles south and six miles west of Chester. In the north western part of the county is the Sweetgrass Hills.

Joplin's population is approximately 300. Joplin's businesses include an auto repair shop, real estate agency, a fertilizer company, grain elevators, and an insurance agency. Right in the center of the Joplin's business area is the beautiful Joplin Memorial Park, a comfortable and safe place for bicyclists traveling Hwy 2 to camp.

Inverness has a population of about 56 and is a quiet little town offering exceptional food and hospitality at the Inverness Supper Club.

The District consists of a high school and elementary District serving grades K-12 with a total enrollment count of approximately 225 students. The District also includes schools at the Sage Creek and Cool Springs Hutterite Colonies.

The Chester-Joplin-Inverness Public Schools has two gymnasiums, two football fields, an outdoor classroom, a baseball diamond, a track, tennis courts, and extensive playgrounds. We offer a variety of sports and clubs for our students. Our core values of respect, excellence, acceptance, compassion, and honor provide our students with exceptional and unique opportunities that promote success in their life choices.
