  • Annual Leave: 45 days total annual paid leave for candidates with a 2 year contract
  • 30 days for candidates with less than 2 year contract          
  • Candidates who start in January: 45 days full paid leave at the end of the second contract
  • Dependent’s School Fees : Children of teachers will be eligible to get a 50% subsidy on the tuition fees, if studying in Paradise Valley Private School
  • The Visa/medical fees done in Oman will be paid in full  for employees only. For dependents, employee has to bear the expenses
  • End of Service Benefits: For each 2 years of full service, school will pay 1 months basic salary as gratuity 
  • The employer will arrange for the employee to be picked up from the airport on arrival and taken to a guest house/ service apartment where they will be put up for a maximum period of one month, during which they will have to finalise their accomodation with the help of the school authorities
  • * The salary package is Cost to Company(CTC) - Tax free salary inclusive of HRA / Utilities, Lunch and Transport. If choose to stay in company provided accommodation then HRA  would be deducted from the CTC

Reports To: Elementary School Principal

Scope of Job:

The IB Primary Years Library Teacher supports the Elementary School Principal/ PYP Coordinator in building, maintaining and successfully manage the library across primary school, establishing goals and expectations with both staff and learners to ensure that it is used to its maximum potential. She / He is responsible for providing an inclusive and safe learning environment for the students where the process of inquiry is encouraged.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the resourcing of the library meets teaching goals across the school for the PYP curriculum and contribute to whole school decisions about resource allocation
  • To be directly involved in teaching and learning across the school, aligning the use of the library to the school goals
  • Work with the Heads of School in coordinating and implementing the school’s Academic Policy
  • Work with class teachers to identify, source and purchase relevant books, resources, stories, research materials, magazines, posters, website lists that will support the curriculum
  • To promote and participate in staff learning and development.
  • To be available to teach classes as required, ensuring high standards of learning that meet with the school goals and ethos
  • Promote professional learning of support staff in the Library
  • Provide a safe physical and emotional environment in the Library
  • Lead in the development of an environment which is culturally safe for students from all cultures
  • Develop and maintain a collegial and supportive inclusive culture in the Library
  • Regularly review purchases of library print and visual texts to meet learner and teacher

 

Requirements

  • Effectively manage budgets and assets
  • Develop and implement effective systems for managing the routines and actions of the Library
  • Develop and maintain the Library and online presence
  • Coordinate the management of an effective cataloguing system
  • Establish and maintain Library review processes
  • Lead special events such as visiting authors, book week and literary competitions
  • Taking part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Days and events with other schools

Application Process

  • A complete resume with a current photograph and passport copy,
  • A document outlining the candidate's philosophy of education and how it relates to the role applied for (maximum 1500 words),
  • One page summary of what the candidate has accomplished professionally in the past three years and plans for the near future,
  • Photocopies of the candidate's educational certificates  
  • Names of two or more professional referees including the person you report to and their contact details
  • Most recent Criminal Background Check.

 

The selection process will consist of three rounds of interviews, on Skype and/ or in person.

Additional Requirement to get the visa processed: A copy of the highest educational degree and qualifications (Bachelors/Masters/Higher Education Diploma) should be Notarised and Apostilled by the official entities in the candidate's home country and attested by the Omani Embassy in the candidate's home country.
