The principal will be the face of the school, leading staff and stakeholders by setting goals and ensuring that students meet their academic and social outcomes and expectations. The role requires a strong ability to oversee the school's day-to-day operations, create, implement, and monitor school policies and procedures, and ensure that the school follows the Ministry of Education and international curricula regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding existing school programs and strengthening core components for effectiveness
  • Developing new systems and  programs that improve teacher performance and student achievement
  • Creating benchmarks for students and teachers and track progress towards those goals through the school improvement plan
  • Perform regular evaluations for staff
  • Ensure planning and effective implementation of standards-based lesson plans and continuous assessments
  • Ensure Response to Intervention protocols are implemented and monitored to address student needs
  • Collect, document, and analyze data as appropriate to best practices in schools
  • Develop and maintain a school environment conducive to effective teaching and learning 
  • Engage the school community through various collaborative initiatives (PTA, SQU, MoE)
  • Plan and participate in professional meetings 
  • Recruit necessary staff
  • Evaluate and acquire necessary materials and programs
  • Plan professional learning activities, including workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work for continuous education units
  • Perform other professional duties as required by the CEO, Ministry of Education, arising needs

Sarh Al Jaameah Private School (SAPS), in Muscat, Oman, opened in September 2019. The school will serve grades 1 through 7 during the 2023-2024 school year. The school was born out of the vision of the Sultan Qaboos University and seeks to be a beacon in the private school community.
