Secondary Music Teacher

The music teacher is responsible for teaching students singing, instrumental techniques, sight reading and music theory, and preparing them for music examinations and live performances, as well as describing and analyzing their own music and the music of others.  General duties include preparing lesson plans based on school requirements, preparing report cards and regularly communicating with parents about student progress. They ensure student learning meets curriculum expectations, maintain a safe, clean and caring environment for students and work effectively with team members and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, and they participate in events and meetings as required.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Prepare documents and lesson plans based on school requirements
• Prepare report cards and meet parents during the parent-teacher conferences
• Ensure student learning is up to the curriculum expectations
• Maintain a safe, clean, caring and loving environment for your students during their stay at school
• Be able to work effectively with team members and students from different cultural backgrounds
• Meet with parents to update them about student progress per parent or school request
• Participate in events and meetings as required by the school
• Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
