NIS seeks to appoint an experienced, talented and inspiring Special Educational Needs teacher to join our Student Services Department.

As a community school, NIS strives for inclusivity and serves a diverse group of students with varied talents, hopes, and dreams. The student services department consists of staff responsible for the areas of physical health, counseling, special needs/enrichment and EAL. Together, the team is focused on working in collaboration with classroom teachers, administrators and parents to remove any barriers which might otherwise inhibit learners from accessing our mission. Based in the ‘iSpace’, a collaborative flexi-space for students and staff, the student services team work incredibly hard to provide mission access to learners each and every day.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and qualified special needs practitioner. Ideally the candidate will be able to conduct appropriate assessments, provide specialized interventions, and also have some experience of enrichment/gifted provision.  While some aspects of the role will involve pull-out provision, as an Inclusive school NIS prefers to provide in-context support wherever possible. Therefore, a desire to collaborate with classroom teachers in order to support learner needs is essential. Additionally, NIS runs an internship programme and the Special Needs teacher will be heavily involved in the professional development and support of interns who are assigned to push into classrooms and support identified learners.
