Counselor

Counseling

  • Referral series: self, teacher, parent, school resource personnel, and administrators
  • Issues of personal/social nature such as peer relationships, goal-setting, problem-solving, time management
  • Academic concerns such as classroom difficulties, course selection, academic planning and expectations, and study skills
  • Organize and instruct Character Education Curriculum where needed

Academic Planning

  • Develop a comprehensive School Guidance Program
  • Provide teachers with pertinent information of students with specific problems (health, personal, learning disabilities, psychological problems, etc.)
  • Administer MAP assessment tests
  • Meet with teachers about class placement for the upcoming school year
  • Identify student in danger of failing for the year
  • Schedule and chair parent conferences
  • Document students who are in support programs
  • Schedule/attend parent conferences with principal concerning students who are not performing up to grade level
  • Advise parents on summer school
  • Administer standardized test of skills

Administrative/Interdepartmental

  • Maintain School Calendar
  • Maintain/ safeguard student files (counseling office)
  • Develop class list
  • Initiate referrals for psychological counseling/assessment
  • Liaison with psychologist
  • Attend counselor's network meetings once per month
  • Develop/maintain tutor list.  Match tutor with student

New Students

  • Administer entrance testing to all new student applicants
  • Provide orientation for in-coming, new-to-the-school students
  • Place in-coming students in appropriate grade level in consultation with Elementary Principal

  • End of service indemnity: Half a month's salary for each year taught at AAG for the first 5 years of service to be received upon completion of service
  • Relocation allowance: 120 KD (approximately $397.00) payable upon arriva.
  • Personal days: 3 per academic year (10 KD/ approximately $33.00) paid for each day not used at the end of the year)

Additional School Requirements
