Our commitment
Teach Away takes responsibility for maintaining and protecting Personal Information under our control. We have appointed a Data Protection Officer who can be contacted directly by the public and who is responsible for our day to day compliance. We review this policy and our personal data protection practices regularly to ensure that we are in compliance with applicable legislation and current best practices.
How we collect, use and disclose personal information
We only collect personal information as required to meet the purposes that we have identified. We do not indiscriminately collect or retain personal information.
We process Personal Information based on one or more legal grounds, including consent, the performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate business interests where permitted by law.
Teach Away typically collects personal information that is voluntarily provided by the individual in question. At times, however, personal information is obtained from other sources, such as government bodies or third parties such as employers, references and service providers, as permitted by law. Where the purpose for the collection of personal information is unclear, you can ask the Teach Away representative with whom you are dealing to provide an explanation of the purpose for the data collection. If required by applicable law, we will seek your explicit consent to process your Personal Information collected by Teach Away and/or volunteered by you. The granting of such consent is entirely voluntarily; however, if you do not grant the requested consent, your use of the services provided by Teach Away, including our website and any other online platform that we may offer from time to time may not be possible.
Our reason for collecting Personal Information about job candidates, clients, staff and consultants is to establish and maintain the employment, contractual or other business relationship.
The purpose for collecting Personal Information about prospective placement candidates is primarily to provide recruitment services and representation, to maintain client and candidate relationships, communicate effectively with our clients and candidates and maintain mailing lists.
We may also use your Personal Information to:
- Respond to your comments, questions and requests and provide customer service;
- Communicate with you about services, offers and promotions and provide news and information we think will be of interest to you;
- Manage your account and send you technical notices, updates, security alerts and support and administrative messages;
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities;
- Link or combine with information we get from others to help understand your needs and provide you with better service; and
- Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.
- Process, organize, screen, match, rank, or otherwise evaluate applications, profiles, and recruitment-related materials using automated systems or AI Tools in support of recruitment and placement services;
As appropriate, Teach Away will ask for specific consent to collect, use and disclose Personal Information, including for the purposes of completing or arranging for the completion of background checks and searches. This may be in writing or orally. In some cases, consent can be implied through an individual relationship or conduct with us, depending on the sensitivity of the information.
Personal information supplied to us is treated as confidential and is disclosed only as described in this Privacy Policy, including to Hiring Institutions, service providers, and as permitted or required by law.
Automated Processing and Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment
For certain recruitment-related services, Teach Away may use automated systems, machine learning tools, or other artificial intelligence tools (“AI Tools”) to assist with the collection, organization, parsing, screening, matching, ranking, or scoring of candidate applications and submitted materials.
These AI Tools are used to support recruitment workflows, improve efficiency, and help identify candidates who may be suitable for specific opportunities. The Personal Information used for these purposes may include information contained in resumes, cover letters, application forms, employment history, education history, qualifications, location, compensation expectations, communications, and other information that candidates or clients submit through our services.
Teach Away does not use AI Tools as the sole basis for making final employment decisions on behalf of Hiring Institutions. Final hiring and employment decisions are made by the relevant Hiring Institution or other authorized decision-maker, not by Teach Away.
Where required by applicable law, Teach Away will provide additional notice regarding the use of AI Tools, including where automated processing or profiling is used in a manner that materially affects candidates. Where applicable, individuals may request additional information about such processing and may request human review or contest a decision made solely by automated means, in accordance with applicable law.
Teach Away also uses reasonable measures designed to assess the performance, reliability, and fairness of AI Tools used in recruitment workflows, but we do not guarantee that AI-generated outputs are error-free, complete, or free from bias.
You acknowledge that AI Tools may influence how candidate information is presented, ranked, or considered by Hiring Institutions, and may therefore indirectly impact employment opportunities.
