Deputy Principal - Head of International

The Position

The Deputy Principal - Head of International will have a demonstrable track record of outstanding senior leadership in schools. The candidate will be a visionary, strategic leader, and committed team player who demonstrates a collegiate and collaborative approach to working with others. He/she will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all of the school’s stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Uphold the mission of the school and that of ISP
  • Support and actively contribute to the mission and philosophy of the school
  • Provide leadership and vision in curriculum development and enhancement
  • Direct orientation and training for new teachers regarding the inappropriate implementation of standards and all areas of the curriculum
  • Train and mentor teachers in multiple teaching methodologies the school may employ
  • Nurture curricular integration across disciplines
  • Meet regularly with teachers and teams for conversations about issues and needs, maintaining a record of meetings and topics discussed as part of academic personnel professional growth/support/progress/background for evaluation
  • Coordinate with Principal and faculty in planning and conducting professional development related to teaching and curriculum including, orientations and faculty in-service programs and workshops
  • Assist Principal to create an international education environment, promoting multi-cultural and multilingual perspectives

IB Curriculum expertise

  • Familiar with IB curriculum, authority requirements, and compliance
  • Curriculum Guide and Mapping, including standards and assessment tracking
  • Create and continuously enhance student pathways to IB High School Diploma and articulations to Universities in the USA and overseas universities
  • In charge of Student/ Teacher exchange and transfer programs.

Learning and Teaching

  • Coordinate academic professional growth efforts with the Principal and administration team
  • Supervise academic employees’ job performance per job descriptions
  • In concert with the Principal as instructional leaders, recruit, train, mentor, manage and assess faculty
  • Frame teaching and learning goals for evaluation and annual goal/ objective setting for the faculty
  • Provide constructive and continual feedback to teachers
  • Coordinate student evaluation and school-wide assessment systems
  • Manage changes to student evaluation and reporting systems including progress reports, report cards, parent/teacher conference reports, and individual student learning plans

Administration – all matters relating to the international component of the School

  • Receive all requests for evaluation services (from parents or teachers) and coordinate responses and actions
  • Support School events, including but not limited to school publications and communiqués; Work closely with the members of the administrative team for enrollment, admissions, advancement, public relations, and student activities and programs
  • Communicate about the school’s academic and co-curricular programs by writing school articles, publications, and/or making presentations
  • Oversee and assist with any accreditation and attendant school visits
  • Assist with day-to-day operations, whenever called upon to assist; Supervise budgets relevant to the international academic program
  • Ensure maintenance of internal School Calendar, schedules, and agenda

  • Knowledge, willingness, and ability to support best practices of teaching and learning and curriculum design
  • Strong understanding of governance and school leadership
  • He or she must be visible in the life of the School and drive collaboration
     

Credentials and Expertise

  • Master’s Degree with specialization in curriculum or a related field, or Bachelor’s Degree with substantial work toward a Master’s Degree in progress
  • Experience in international and bilingual K-12 schools.
  • Strong teaching experience and a minimum of 5 year’s supervisory experience
