Drama Teacher

About TRIO Drama Academy: TRIO Drama Academy is a comprehensive professional performing arts training center located in Shenzhen, China. TRIO offers LAMDA exams in disciplines such as acting, musical theater, Shakespearean speech, etc. Our goal is to develop communication, confidence, collaboration, creativity and leadership skills in children aged 3 to 18.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and motivate students ages 3-16 according to TRIO's assigned theatre syllabus.
  • Stage, choreograph, or rehearse student presentations/performances.
  • Assist with all additional rehearsals to prepare for performances. Assist with any performances including stage rehearsals, backstage needs, costumes, etc.
  • Participate in all faculty meetings, curriculum meetings, and professional development workshops.
  • Prepare written assessments for students.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all TRIO program parents and students.
  • Must be available to support all organization-wide activities and special events.
  • Maintain and ensure a healthy, safe, and inclusive school environment for students
  • Follow and implement all policies established for the TRIO Theatre Academy

Position Type: Full-time Contract Terms

Salary: RMB 200,000 - 250,000 per year (depending on qualifications and experience), after tax

Classes: 25 hours per week, plus office hours

MajorBachelor's degree in drama, drama education or related field; Or a degree in elementary/secondary education with additional coursework in drama (24-30 credits), or a special certification in drama and drama teaching.
Additional School Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Theatre, with an emphasis on education/teaching preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in children's theatre training is required.
  • Applicants must be caring, patient, responsible, and easy-going. Good communication with students and parents.
  • Applicants should have strong organizational and choreographic skills.
  • Stanislavski, Trinity, and LAMDA certificates preferred.
  • A clean driving record is required.

Preferred:

  • Subject matter graduate work preferred.
  • Coupled with a high level of education, the successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication skills in teaching ideas, texts, and concepts accurately and confidently.
  • Must be open to new ideas in teaching.

As a drama teacher, you are responsible for developing engaging and informative lesson plans for specific topics, teaching students about drama and theatre as a form of self-expression, storytelling, and theatre, and actively participating in team teaching, production, and recruitment of new students
