Early Childhood Teacher

Gateway Education Center, previously known as Gateway Foreign Language Institute. It was established in 2002, in the city of Chengdu, China, by a Singapore entrepreneur. When the center first started, it only offered English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for children. Now it has expanded to providing early childhood program for young children.  As of now, the demand for this early childhood program is growing, they are looking for two full-time teaching positions.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on English language development and emergent literacy skills.
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
  • Observe, assess and record students regularly and professionally to evaluate progress in development and learning, and to detect signs of ill health and emotion disturbance.
  • Together with lead teachers, discuss students’ development and learning problems, and progress with their parents timely and regularly.

Additional School Requirements
  • Must be willing to relocate to Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China
  • Be a native English speaker (English is your first language)
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (with preference in Education, Early Childhood or equivalent)
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant teaching experience (preferably with early childhood teaching experiences)
  • Hold a valid passport from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Ireland, Philippines
  • Be able to commit to a one-year contract
  • Energetic & creative
  • A team player who loves working with children
  • Have no criminal record of any kind
  • China working visa requirement: candidate must be less than 60 years old

About the School

Gateway Education Center, previously known as Gateway Foreign Language Institute. It was established in 2002, in the city of Chengdu, China. When the center first started, it only offered English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for children. Now it has expanded to providing pre-school programs for younger children. As of now, they have 200 ESL students and 183 pre-school children. They moved to a newly built and furbished 7-storey building on September 2012. The new facility is able to accommodate 800 ESL students and 200 pre-school kids. As a result of the increased capacity, they are looking for three full-time teaching positions.
