Educational Technology Specialist (ETS)

Etqan Global Academy (EGA) opened in August 2019 as an IB Candidacy school embracing the Canadian Curriculum of Ontario. In August 2020 we will be expanding our grades from Pre-KG to Grade 5. Our teaching staff comes primarily from native English-speaking regions. We have established a welcoming and caring environment that focuses on moving every child to their potential.

We are seeking an Educational Technology Specialist (ETS) to join us in August 2020.

Job Summary:

Provide leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining high-quality technology integration into teaching and learning throughout all educational settings to support teachers in enhancing instruction, improve student performance, and assist students in becoming technologically savvy. In addition, the ETS supports students as they create projects and complete classroom assignments and have an active role in the classroom.

Duties of the Elementary Educational Technology Specialist:

  1. Identify school educational technology needs, barriers and weaknesses; develop, organize and implement solutions for students, teachers, staff and administrators.
  2. Craft and update EGA’s Instructional Technology Strategic Plan.
  3. Serve as the Educational Technology Specialist Leader and model effective instructional strategies utilizing technology in a collaborative teaching environment.
  4. Research and propose new ways to enhance teaching and learning, promote innovation, and foster purposeful, meaningful, and creative integration of technology.
  5. Use data to design technology-based instructional strategies.
  6. Train staff to effectively use Classe365 School Management System, BrainPop, Razkids, Smartboards, Google G Suite, Virtual Reality, Discovery Education, Chrome Books, MacBook Pro, and other educational software.  
  7. Evaluate and report to Principal effectiveness of professional development training.  
  8. Maintain a log of educational technology activities and submit a report to the Principal to keep him abreast of the progress of the educational technology implementation plan.
  9. Write a monthly report to be shared with the School Board focused on Educational Technology.
  10. Issue individual staff appraisal instructional technology reports for the Principal.
  11. Outsource and recommend to administration educational technology resources.
  12. Perform other duties as directed by the school’s leadership.

Additional School Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Master’s preferred
  • Three to five years of related experience in education, with 3 years in the classroom preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience (IB experience is a plus)
  • Strong interest and experience in pedagogy and innovation
  • Valid Teacher’s License
  • Expertise in Chrome Books and Apple hardware, Mac OS and iOS software, and G Suite for Education
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Adherence to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity
  • Two reference letters (one from most recent employer)
