Elementary English Teacher

The Elementary English Language Teacher provides instruction to students both individually and in groups using various teaching methods and pedagogy whilst successfully guiding English Language Learners towards increasing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing, in order to support achievement in all academic areas.  He/ she uses effective learning strategies to increase student use of target language and improve student confidence in participating in all English language subject classes.

 

The Elementary English Language Teacher is responsible for delivering English language educational experiences to students in a classroom setting. He/She strives to creates authentic learning experiences through planning, and delivering instruction and the creation of activities, individual and team projects that help students understand by design. The successful candidate will also understand how to effectively utilize summative and formative assessment to guide student learning.  He/She has a track record of creating a positive learning environment through the use of positive discipline techniques and continuously inspires excellence in student academic achievement. He/She encourages students to develop knowledge, skills and understanding in mathematics. Through the use of the California Curriculum aligned to Common Core standards, the teacher connects these core subjects to other disciplines and real-world applications

Additional School Requirements
  • Relevant BA or MA degree in education from a university in a native English-speaking country
  • At least two years of experience as an ELD teacher
  • Expertise in teaching in an elementary English Language program
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about recent research in pedagogy in the field of English Language education
  • Possesses sensitivity to developmental stages and well-being of children
  • Flexible to adapt to the teaching needs of the students and the school
