English Teacher

Purpose:

The English Teacher is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational program for K-6 children in planning, assessing, instructing students, maintaining required records, following grant compliance and licensing guidelines under the supervision of the teacher.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member in providing a quality elementary educational program
  • Assist the Principal/Director and staff in implementing schools curricular and long range goals while maintaining the integrity of his/her classroom
  • Assist in establishing parent involvement activities
  • Assist in all daily operations of the program
  • Model lesson plans and the GEE curriculum to novice teachers
  • Assume responsibility for student achievement and create that expectation for all school staff and faculty by leading a dynamic professional learning community that embraces accountability and outstanding student results
  • Coach and develop teachers on how to design rigorous and relevant formative and summative assessments to effectively measure progress and mastery
  • Manage and monitor curricular materials and curriculum selection process used in educational programs in the centers
  • Collaborates with Multicenter Director and administration
  • Work with individual and small groups of students
  • Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
  • Assist children with personal health care needs
  • Work collaboratively and communicate with the classroom teachers to implement lessons plans, activities, and classroom tasks
  • Assist teacher with monitoring behavior and supporting the educational process in the classroom
  • Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress
  • Collect and document data regarding the student(s)
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, field trips, cafeterias, and/or playground
  • Participate in training and on-going professional development
  • Able to work Flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities
  • Other duties as needed, including staying in classrooms when needed
