Responsibilities
- To provide planned teaching to students, monitor performances on a daily basis and provide corrective and descriptive feedback throughout the learning process
- To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of individual students
- To demonstrate written evidence of preparation for classes, both long and short range plans
- To be familiar and cognizant of the Curriculum of IGCSE
- To update programme, course and unit outlines and long range plans
- To assess student achievement levels using a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, as well as formal examinations
- To correct and mark work in a timely manner, and provide descriptive written and oral feedback to assist students in their learning
- To vary teaching techniques and resources/materials to suit learning styles, motivation levels, needs and capabilities of the students
- To develop and implement a classroom management scheme which emphasizes a tidy and orderly classroom - learning environment
- To test and evaluate student’s abilities, record grades, check and register attendance, send Performance Reports to parents, enter grades on report cards as specified by the school leadership
- To maintain control in classroom and apply disciplinary measures in accordance with administrative policies and regulations
- To supervise students out of classroom and be responsible for maintaining that area as assigned by administration
- To help in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations inside and outside the classroom
- To take all necessary safety and precautionary measures to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- To consult with the counselor and pastoral heads regarding individual student problems
- To keep accurate and complete written records for all parents’ conferences, student conferences, behavior discipline incidents and extra student assistance
- To be available to parents and students during regular school hours and at other reasonable times
- To demonstrate skill in the subject area taught
- To maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students and parents
- To safeguard privileged information about students, faculty members and administration
- To be responsible for receiving and maintaining textbooks, study materials, teaching supplies and classroom equipment
- To attend and participate in all staff meetings
- To accept responsibility for extra-curricular activities
