Female Homeroom Teacher

Responsibilities:

  • Develop unit, weekly and daily plans.
  • Maintain pupil records of achievement
  • Use assessment results to determine the next steps of growth on a class-wide basis or for individual students.
  • Participate productively in all team meetings, all Elementary staff meetings, all Child Study meetings when required, and all professional development days, meetings, and/or workshops
  • Curriculum development
  • Instructional in-services
  • Textbook adoption programs
  • Meetings with parents, either initiated by the school, teacher, or parent
  • Plan and prepare assignments, experiments, assessments, demonstrations, teaching aids, bulletin boards, newsletters, etc.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise students at assemblies and other special programs, making a professional contribution to overall school operation.
  • Meet with parents, at the teacher, parent, or principal's request, at Parent/Teacher conferences, at Open Houses and other such events, and as needed during the year.
  • Maintain consistent, honest, and whenever possible, positive communication with parents throughout the year by responding to or initiating contracts through phone calls, meetings, or agenda notes.
  • Work positively and professionally with all students and their families.
  • Attend supervision duties on time.
  • Meet report card expectations and due dates as set by the principal.
  • Attend Grade level meetings.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and tardy records.
  • Supervise students during DEAR time.
  • Keep records of materials or textbooks assigned to students.
  • Complete inventory tasks, as required.
  • Keep nurse folders accurate and available.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student agendas and Thursday folders.
  • Maintain up-to-date and attractive bulletin boards including student work
  • Foster a healthy and safe classroom environment.
  • Report maintenance needs.
  • Send photocopying with correct forms a minimum of two days ahead.
  • Ensure student cubbies are tidy.
  • Ensure shelves, tabletops and desks are tidy.
  • Begin and end classes on time so that timetables may be accurately followed.
  • Collect and maintains records of spending of the student fee.
  • Assists on committees when called upon.
