Grade 2 Homeroom & Multi-subject Teacher

Homeroom duties

  • Classroom decoration and creation of didactic materials such as class anchor charts, classroom management systems, etc. preparing class lists and seating charts, managing arrival and dismissal, etc with support of a local co-teacher
  • Plan and execute activities for the daily 20 min HR period and Monday "Assembly Period" and end of day HR on Fridays
  • Plan class activities and accompany the class during holiday celebrations, school activities, assemblies, mass, etc.
  • Cooperate with local co-teacher for student behavior management, communication with parents and special services, etc.
  • Grading conduct weekly and quarterly, assessing overall oral English development and providing comments on quarterly report cards with support of a local co-teacher
  • Guiding students' character development especially during homeroom periods
  • Teaching duties
  • Teaching 7 lessons per week of English as a Second Language and English Language Arts using the Longman English World series, THRASS phonics system, story books and other supplementary materials, in cooperation with a local co-teacher.
  • Teach 6 lessons per week of General Studies (Social Studies, Science, Health, etc.) using Longman Explore series and supplementary materials in cooperation with a local co-teacher
  • Submitting yearly teaching plans (by late September), collecting and correcting homework, tests, and exams. Completing formative and running record assessments of literacy, oral English, and phonics.  Creating and grading assessments of learning in English and General Studies. 
  • Provide English language support to local specialist teachers in Art and Music (5 lessons per week)
  • Advise one extracurricular activity per week during school hours with a co-teacher (Friday last two lessons)
  • Cooperate effectively with local co-teachers in the design and execution of lesson activities and coordinate actively and harmoniously with other teachers teaching the same grade level and subjects

Non-teaching duties

  • Share general tasks such as monitoring during breaks in corridors or playground, 3 times weekly morning duty (7:40-8:00am) or weekly lunch recess duty (1:30-2:00pm), exam proctoring, chaperoning of field trips, etc.
  • Participation in school activities and events including parents meetings, open days, school celebrations etc, that may occur outside working hours (evenings or Saturdays)
  • Maintain a high professional standard with respect for local culture and Catholic values and adherence to school policies including attendance policy and dress code
  • Typical working hours: 8:00-12:15, 2:00-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, some Saturdays 
  • Teaching year: late August through mid/late July

Other

  • Opportunities for voluntary paid duties & lessons: lunchroom duty, remedial classes (extended school day program), enrichment classes (evenings and/or Saturday), Saturday activity classes

  • Homeroom teaching experience in an English speaking country or international school, especially with ELLs

  • Previous experience teaching abroad
  • Advanced IT skills
  • Additional degrees or certificates related to ESL/EFL/TESOL, Literacy, Special Ed, etc.
