Head Librarian

Resonsibilities

  • Provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that all the libraries work
  • Work with the Curriculum Coordinator to develop and refine a Library Curriculum for ZIA with specific goals and objectives appropriate to each grade level
  • Coordinate library events throughout the school
  • Work with all librarians to ensure accurate inventories are kept of resources throughout the school
  • Assist with the recruitment, interview process, and training for new library media specialists
  • Advise teachers on collection development strategies and resources
  • Oversee the budgeting, ordering, cataloging, circulation, inventory and distribution of instructional resources, and ensure that proper and consistent procedures are followed in all ZIA libraries
  • Manage the ZIA Libraries
  • This position directly oversees ZIA librarians and supports the personal development and coordination of all ZIA librarians

  • Excellent communication skills, in English
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and speaking in front of large groups
  • Works collaboratively with other members of Library Team to meet library goals
  • Excellent organization and execution skills: able to set priorities, multi-task, and oversee multiple processes simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Library, Communications, Education and Supervisory/ Management roles
