Head of the Primary School

Responsibilities 

The main role of the head is to maintain communication with the parents, manage the teachers and students’ progress, school’s didactics projects and school development and mission. The position requires cooperation with the local director responsible for the compliance with Polish educational laws and requirements of the Polish Ministry of Education and some (10-12) teaching hours with the students (subjects to be determined)


Main Accountabilities 

Communication with the parents: 

  • Maintain an up-to-date communication aiming to engage parents in their child’s life and cooperate with them on the development of crucial life educational skills

 

Teachers’ management

  • Manage the team of English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Polish teachers 
  • Assure the fulfilment of curriculum goals by the teachers 
  • Maintain “lead by example” discipline model among the teachers in re to the  curriculum standards, schedule
  • Prepare yearly timetables for teachers
  • Enforce discipline and accountability among the teachers and students’ community
  • Participate in the recruitment of the teachers 
  • Supervise curriculum progression of the students
  • Initiate and follow through school’s didactics projects
  • Participate in the development and keep in line with the school’s vision and mission 
  • Support, lead and if necessary train less experienced teachers 
  • Cooperation with the local principal
  • Communication and preparation of the required by Polish regulations documents necessary for educational institutions

 

Teaching:

  • Planning lessons and sequences of lessons to meet student’s individual learning needs and to ensure student’s progression
  • Using a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and learning and classroom management
  • Use flexible groupings and structured inquiry to deliver high quality lessons in line our curriculum
  • Maintain a well organised and stimulating learning environment
  • Using information about prior attainment to set expectations for students
  • Using a range of assessment and reporting methods that show student’s achievement in relation to learning outcomes
  • Providing clear and constructive feedback to students and their parents and caregivers

 

Wider professional roles: 

  • Planning and engaging in professional learning activities that support the school and systematic priorities
  • Taking responsibility for own professional development and using the outcomes to improve teaching and students’ learning
  • Making an active contribution to the policies and aspirations of the school.
  • Ensuring the administration of classroom procedures is completed efficiently
  • Collaborating with members of the school community to build a team environment that supports students’ learning
