Head of Schools

Job Purpose

To provide professional leadership and be responsible for the day to day efficient management of the schools thus ensuring a high-quality education for all the students.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the principals in ensuring the vision of the School is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all stakeholders
  • Play a leading role within the school translating the vision into strategic plans which will sustain school improvement
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students, staff, and principals for academic performance and responsibility for behavior
  • Supervises and evaluates principals in his/her region; serves as a liaison between principals and the SSS Head Quarter; works with principals to resolve school-based concerns and problems; assists principals and teachers in striving for maximum student achievement
  • Ensure there is a continuous focus in the school on student’s achievement, effectively using data and benchmarks to monitor the progress in every student’s learning
  • Ensure a diverse and inclusive curriculum is in place which is following statutory guidance and responsive to the needs of individual pupil
  • Monitor and implement policies which impact on outstanding practice and are understood and implemented by all stakeholders
  • Ensures cohesiveness among school leaders, teachers, staff, and all other stakeholders
  • Supervises principals in analyzing school achievement data and to discuss implications for curriculum and instructional needs.
  • Supports the alignment of functions between schools and central office divisions
  • Assess, monitor and evaluate the quality of planning, teaching and of learning outcomes, promoting improvement strategies as necessary
  • Ensure staffing structures reflect the needs of the school and roles and responsibilities are clear to all stakeholders
  • Work with the Principal and leadership team to recruit and retain a high-quality staff team
  • Oversee the school’s performance management policy, securing school improvement and quality professional development
  • Fulfill the statutory duties, in relation to the curriculum, safeguarding and student protection
  • Ensure the effective deployment of staff and resources within the school main site and partnerships
  • Work with Principal to set the school budget and monitor its effectiveness
  • Responsible for improvement of the school – ensuring action plans are in place and monitored vigorously
  • Ensure the day to day management structures, systems and processes work effectively in line with key priorities
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure school improvement is sustained and to deliver quality outcomes for students
  • Ensures appropriately safe premises/work areas for all staff, students and visitors to the school site
  • Initiates and maintains ongoing and effective communication with community and parents regarding student achievement and school programs; supports school-based parent outreach programs and strategies to engage parents in student learning
  • Resolve conflict with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and community
  • Assist in determining school plant needs by utilizing pupil projections, demographic studies, educational requirements, facilities requirements, and financial projections.
  • Supervise and monitor the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Implement School Board policy, government rules and regulations as they pertain to the assigned school.
  • Attend school-related activities and events.
  • Provide leadership in the school improvement process and assist in creating the school improvement plan.
  • Serve as a member of the Director’s management team.
  • Communicate, through the proper channels, to keep the Director of Schools and Central Office staff informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
  • Establish a professional rapport with students, parents and staff. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel
  • Any other duties assigned by the Director of Schools or required by the nature of the position.

Dimensions

  • Responsible for all the staff and students in assigned Sampoerna Academy campuses in his/her region
  • The position responsible for the team in schools wherein average Head of School will have 2 direct report

Qualifications and Requirements

Additional School Requirements
  • PhD in Education (esp. from an International institution) preferred
  • Background of an undergrad degree in education & psychology preferred and is considered a plus
  • Possess and exhibit in Academic & Curriculum Design, mastering: national curriculum, international curriculum (Cambridge, IB, US, IEYC, IPC, ISC etc), pedagogy and accreditation process, rigor and standard
  • Posses and exhibit in navigating the requirement/rigor of accreditation (national: Dikdasmen & BAN SM and international: NEASC/WASC/CIS etc) resourcefully & efficiently with demonstrated experience and success, across ELC, Elementary & Secondary stage
  •  Experienced in and is passionate about Teaching and holds a valid certification of proficiency on relevant curriculum
  • Posses and exhibit various curriculum’s checkpoints/exams
  • Experienced in crafting special modification in case of special education need students present
  • Possessing strong acumen and financial/profitability literacy/sensitivity
  • Independent, resourceful, dedicated, quality contributor, hi-paced & discipline strategic planner and doer that walks to the talk and that leads by example
  • Strongly acquainted and having established relationship with relevant external stakeholders (government, accreditors, teacher network)
