High School Teacher
Seeking a High School Teacher to teach two or more subjects at our Canadian curriculum school.
Subjects include:
- Math
- English
- Business Studies
Reports to: Principal, Managing Director and Board of Directors.
Supervises: Students of the school
Nature and scope of the job: Instruct students in high school in one or more subjects at Grades 9 -12 levels. She/he may be designated according to the subject matter. 1 academic year is equivalent to 190 teaching days (5 days a week).
Job functions and responsibilities
The school teacher shall:
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible
- Act in the role of a teacher of 2 or more subjects and an Administrative
- Oversee collection of marks and to oversee standard staff procedures for storing records and submitting records at the end of each term to Avro Academy
- Communicate with parents and students as needed
- Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studies
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress. 8. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
- Assign and grade classwork and homework
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students. 14. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
- Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
- Administer standardized ability and achievement tests, and interpret results to determine students' strengths and areas of need
- Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests
- Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required
- Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading
- Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms
Employment Status: Full-time
Working Hours: The standard working hour is from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and generally with a 30 minutes lunch break. It is expected that you remain flexible about extra supervision and/or Study Hall during school hours and also “extended time” either before and/or after standard working day hours for such purposes for study supervision, staff professional development, meetings, and extra-curricular activities as required.
