Human Resource Specialist
Job Purpose
To support the initiatives and growth of the School Administration and Human Resource Department through research, foreign employee engagement and support, recruitment, school policy development, and project-based assignments.
Job Duties
Recruitment
- Strategize
- Research, design and implement overall recruitment strategy based on industry data, school needs and limits, and input from the HR Director, Head of School Operations, Principals, and Department Directors
- Source and attract candidates through databases, agencies, social media, etc.
- Plan and design recruitment materials, including emails, flyers, videos, etc. based on school benefits and policies, and develop and update school profile across every platform
- Provide analytical and well documented recruiting reports to the rest of the team
- Cost Control
- Calculate and estimate the recruitment cost and budget based on recruitment plan
- Submit agency contracts for approval and tax bureau purposes
- Submit financial advance request or payment for recruitment agency payments
- Manage
- Assist in the updating of job descriptions for current positions, research and manage the process of creation of new job descriptions
- Screen candidates through the recruitment and job application phase, answer candidate questions, upload top candidate dossiers to internal school database
- Coordinate interviews between directors, candidates, and principals
- Review and submit paperwork for offer and salary proposal
School Policy Development
- Be well versed and updated on current school policy
- Research best employee practices and policies at K-12 schools and multinational companies and form proposals for fair practices
- Assist and develop dynamic and engaging trainings to explain and implement new school policies
- Assist in the updating and renewing of the teacher and administrator handbook
- Answer foreign teacher and director questions related to school policy
School Community Engagement
- Design, propose, plan, and execute school events intended to boost school cultural and morale among teachers
- Design, propose, plan, and execute proper orientation information and training for new incoming foreign teachers
- Seek to build bridges between foreign teachers and Chinese administrative departments by observing possible school culture problems and suggesting solutions to the HR Director and related administrative departments

Professional Development
- Research and propose school-wide professional development opportunities
- Demonstrate self-motivation by seeking professional development opportunities:
- Utilizing department resources to improve and enhance practice
- Pursue online webinars or other resources
- Research opportunities at local schools
- Contribute to enhancing the professional community at SMIC by:
- Attending and participating in in-house workshops
- Engage peers through sharing and teaching professional skills
- Being punctual and attentive to all faculty and department meetings
Special Projects
- Research, propose, and execute projects for school improvement
- Collaborate with other departments to execute projects, including leading committees when appropriate
