IB DP Coordinator

Job Summary

The IB Diploma Program (IB-DP) coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the DP curriculum.   The IB-DP coordinator will also be responsible for a partial teaching load and serve as a member of the school’s academic leadership team, reporting directly to the Director.  

Reports To:  The Director 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:  

Diploma administration

  • Carry out the necessary tasks outlined in the IBO’s list of coordinator’s responsibilities
  • including registration of students, payment of invoices, monitoring of deadlines, dispatch of necessary documentation and organization of the examination sessions
  • Ensure that the school and its students comply with all applicable IBO regulations and assist the senior leadership team in readying the school for IB authorization
  • Make copies of relevant IBO DP publications available to all faculty
  • Counsel students on appropriate subject selection
  • Support teachers and students in preparing for the Diploma examinations.  Supervise and organize exams delivery
  • Train students and teachers in the exams procedures
  • Make provision for appropriate liaison and support upon the publication of results in July
  • Supervise the TOK and CAS programs. 
  • Ensure that teachers get the information related to updates in the DP, and distribute the coordinator's notes

Curriculum

  • Participate fully in the development of the school's educational strategy, particularly as it   
  • affects the program for grades 11 and 12
  • Participate in the Educational leadership team
  • Professional development
  • Ensure that faculty are made aware of IB workshop & conference opportunities
  • Identify professional development needs and opportunities on and off-campus
  • Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits
  • Lead the orientation of new teachers into the DP

Resource management

  • Assist the senior leadership team in identifying resource needs
  • To develop, monitor and disburse a budget for IB related expenses, including examination materials, publications, and IB professional development; to work with the business office on the communication and collection of IB examination fees
  • Establish an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management

Communication

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all faculty members
  • Conduct parent information sessions
  • Publish articles pertaining to the Diploma in the school newsletter
  • Prepare and circulate an annual review of IB examination results
  • Circulate all relevant information received from the IBO
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for authorization and evaluation
  • Ensure that all requirements of the IBO concerning the program are met
  • Act as the liaison between the school and the IBO
  • Provide outreach to the wider IBDP community through OCC discussion forums, e-mail and school visits
  • Establish/maintain links with other IB Diploma schools in the region
