Lecturer of Mathematics Education - College of Coastal Georgia - Georgia

The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation at the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Mathematics Education to begin in August 2018. Dynamic applicants who are interested in working with teacher education faculty in a collaborative environment to prepare candidates for initial teacher certification are encouraged to apply. Qualified applicants must have successful experience in teaching at the P-12 level, undergraduate teaching, advising, field experience supervision, and/or curriculum development. Candidates applying for this position will be informed of current evidence-based practices in teacher education, innovation in curriculum development, assessment for continuous improvement initiatives, professional development school models, and performance-based formative/summative evaluation strategies. Qualified applicants will also be expected to collaborate with faculty across the Education Preparation Provider (EPP) to make connections across courses within the designated initial teacher preparation program. Finally, the person hired in this position will be expected to provide support for accreditation through data management and analysis tasks. This position is full-time starting Fall 2018. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:
• Teach undergraduate level mathematics education courses for prospective elementary, middle, and/or secondary mathematics teachers
• Supervise teacher candidates at the elementary, middle and/or secondary level
• Contribute to the collegial community of the department to establish and maintain excellence within and across initial teacher preparation programs
• Advise undergraduate students majoring in elementary, middle, and/or secondary education
• Scholarly activities including, but not limited to, research, course development, publishing, conference presentations, or grant procurement as aligned to the Boyer Model of Scholarship
• Provide service to the department, college, and partnering school districts, as applicable
• Serving as assessment coordinator for the department
