Middle & High School Student Services Internship

Interns at NIS will join a collaborative, supportive and ambitious team looking to make learning ever more connected, relevant and meaningful. Through an Internship at NIS we hope to assist you in developing your personal goals while knowing that you will enrich our community and add value to professional learning and student learning here at NIS.

An internship involves:

  • Working within the classroom to support the delivery of the curriculum. This will include working with individuals and small groups to support learning needs within the context of the mainstream classroom. This will be a collaborative model where you work alongside the classroom teacher and under the guidance and support of the student services coordinator and other experienced staff.
  • ‘Pull out’ support for identified students. While in-class support is our preferred model, students who are identified as needing specific pull-out support through our student referral process may be assigned to you for ‘pull out’ support. In this case your work will be supported by the classroom teacher and by the student services coordinator and other experienced staff

As an Intern you will join the Student Services Team – a collaborative team of staff who are dedicated to ensure that all students have access to the NIS mission. The team includes specialists in Counselling, EAL, Special Needs and Health. The interns are mentored by the Coordinator of the team with the support of other full-time experienced staff.

Depending on the right candidate you may have a focus within the lower MYP, or within a subject group (e.g. Math/Science or Language Arts/Social Studies)

NIS provides a salary of ¥2m plus shared housing, flights and co-pay medical insurance.
