Middle School Music Teacher

The Chiway Repton School Xiamen is a new private boarding school for Chinese students providing the best of British education in one of the most beautiful cities in China. We are currently looking for caring and energetic Middle school Music teacher to join our faculty. Responsibilities:

  • Teach music content using the performance standards of the International Baccalaureate Program
  • Create and implement a year-long plan and individual unit plans for music instruction
  • Teach music appreciation and fundamentals of music through explorations in instrumental music
  • Skilled in planning instruction incorporating elements of music appropriate to the developmental levels of students
  • Actively involves students in meaningful activities designed to teach elements of music
  • Provides experience-based instruction involving such approaches as playing, listening, moving, creating and performing
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students (pre-post assessments), analyze data, prepare reports, keep appropriate records as necessary
  • Create and maintain documents and files for individual students
  • Evaluate each student’s progress on an individual basis
  • Communicate with homeroom teachers, parents and school admin on student progress
  • Participate in staff meetings and support student activities
  • Teach through a student-centered, inquiry-based creative approach
  • Develop a multicultural learning community that emphasizes respect for diversity

Additional School Requirements
  • Passion for teaching students Music and experience teaching English as a second language
  • Familiarity or experience with the International Baccalaureate program
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based teaching and Responsive Classroom
  • Teaching certification or license a plus
  • At least 2 years previous Music teaching experience
  • Understanding and proficiency in relevant technology
  • Knowledge of current ESL and Music educational and instructional methodologies
