Middle Years Teacher

Be aware that this is not a TEFL/TESL position. Candidates without at least 2 years' experience teaching K-12 as a generalist or subject teacher will not be considered.

WE are an established, private Thai school outside of the city center, now extending our holistic, mindful, project-based learning pedagogical style into an international programme taught in English. We need multifaceted teachers to join our development team this year as we continue our journey to opening classes in June 2020.

YOU are a lifelong learner who loves facilitating your students' growth - both academic and personal - beyond even their expectations. You make dreams achievable and consider failure as an opportunity to gain new understanding. You are confident at delivering more than one subject area, seeing connections between disciplines. Conceptual learning makes sense to you, as does giving students ownership of their own learning. Your students can't quite make up their minds whether you are a little crazy, a total taskmaster, the best cheerleader, or master of redirection because you know how to adapt your teaching style to provide the support they need to succeed. Your colleagues consider you a go-to person because you always have some resources up your sleeve, love collaborating, and find swapping classes or co-teaching a chance to break out of your comfort zone.

We are currently looking for 6 subject teachers to create 3 teaching teams - so hoping to find teachers who are able to collaboratively design curriculum and provide support for other teachers in at least two subject areas: literature, math, science, and social studies/humanities.

Over 2019-20 you will be working with the development team to design the curriculum and units of teaching. You will also meet prospective students and their families through demonstration classes and similar events. From May/June 2020, you will have pastoral care with another teacher for one class (grade 7, 8, or 9) and will teach different units and levels depending on what you designed. We would particularly prefer teachers who can make a 3-year commitment so that you are then able to help us expand and train new teachers the following year.

Roong Aroon is an expansive, green campus and we offer a lot of opportunities for growth - both for our students and our faculty. While we expect more time from our teachers (we follow the Thai academic calendar, and have more teacher in-service time), we also provide a natural setting and a welcoming community.
