MS Math Teacher
Reports To: Middle School Principal
Scope of Work: The teacher’s primary responsibility is to ensure student-learning success and provide for the individual learning needs of each pupil. The teaching load may include 6th, 7th or 8th grade math. Additionally the teacher will be expected to participate in a variety of collaborative teams and committees; fulfil supervision duties as assigned, including some evening and weekend events; and supervise/coach one co-curricular activity in the course of the year.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Work as a collaborative member of the middle school Mathematics department
- Implement a program of study that adheres to the course curriculum as adopted by the Board of Directors
- Differentiate instruction to address preferred learning styles of various students in class
- Integrate technology within lessons to enhance instructional delivery
- Understand and conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and reflect on instructional techniques accordingly
- Be available to assist students outside of class time and differentiate instruction based on student need
- Communicate regularly with parents through e-mail, telephone and parent/student/teacher conferences
- Attend relevant departmental, divisional and K-12 professional meetings as necessary
- Participate on faculty committees and curriculum development programs as required
- Promote a positive learning environment
- Assume responsibility for meaningful professional growth
- Participate in and supervise a weeklong intercultural trip
- Sponsor a minimum of one extra-curricular student activity
- Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Principal
