Occupational Therapist
Reports to: Head of Inclusion
Scope of Work
- Provide quality school-based occupational therapy services - assessment/evaluation
- IEP planning and implementation
- Documentation and reporting and communication between teachers, related service providers, and families.
- A full-time position working with students individually and in general education inclusion classrooms as a member of the team promoting inclusive education.
Responsibilities
- Screening and Assessment of occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, student role/interactive skills, processing skills, play, community integration, and written communication
- Collaborate and contribute to the development of IEPs to meet the individual needs of students and participate in all review meetings
- Analyze, select, adapt, and sequence tasks relative to areas of occupation, performance skills, activity demands, contexts, and student factors to implement the intervention plan
- Responsible for timely documentation of evaluation results, progress reports, daily notes, service tracker notes
- Educate and demonstrate (verbally or written) therapy techniques to parents that can be incorporated into home routines
- Assess and make recommendations regarding the use of adaptive equipment as needed and provide written justification
- Attend staff meetings, in- service training, and continuing education courses as appropriate or required
- Support the Head of Inclusion and the team for creating a successful inclusion programme in the school
