Physical Therapist
Reports to: Head of Inclusion
Scope of Work
- Provide quality school-based Physical therapy services -
- Improve, develop, restore or maintain a child’s sensory motor function in inclusive educational environment assessment/evaluation
- IEP planning and implementation
- Documentation and reporting and communication between teachers, related service providers, and families.
- A full-time position working with students individually and in general education inclusion classrooms as a member of the team promoting inclusive education
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In identification of physical impairments/delays
- To provide intervention-including but not limited to:
- Facilitation of developmental motor skills
- Postural awareness, ambulation and gait training
- Sensorimotor processing
- Cardiovascular function
- Wheelchair mobility
- Adaptation or modification of equipment
- Recommendation and monitoring or orthoses and other assistive devices
- Prevention of initial or additional deformity or disability via early intervention and transportation needs of students
- To conduct appropriate evaluation of students referred for related services and prepare written reports of the evaluations and findings
- To participate in the development of IEP
- To provide direct and indirect physical therapy in educational settings/least restrictive environments to children
- To collaborate with other school personnel regarding physical therapy and the students’ needs
- To work alongside teachers, parents and paraprofessionals
- To train/instruct teachers, parents and paraprofessionals in techniques and equipment use
- To maintain records of service provided
- Attend staff meetings, in- service training, and continuing education courses as appropriate or required
- Support the Head of Inclusion and the team for creating a successful inclusion programme in the school
