We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary English Teacher to join our team. As a Primary English Teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring and guiding young learners to develop their English language skills and foster a love for reading, writing, and communication.

About us:

Kang Chiao International School (KCIS) is a professional education team across the Taiwan and Chinese mainland. At Kang Chiao, we take the idea of, “Nurturing International Leaders, and Preparing Students for a Beautiful Future,” as its educational goal; and encourage students to explore, experience, and express themselves, so that they dare to pursue their dreams in the future and create successful life experiences.

The Taiwan Kang Chiao International School, located in Taipei, was founded in 2002. This initial KCIS educational endeavor is also highly respected for its educational value in Taiwan. The KCIS East China (KCISEC) campus, located in Kunshan, China, was founded in 2012. KCISEC was instrumental in successfully creating a new model of international education that crossed the Taiwan Straits. In 2018, KCIS Xi’an Qujiang Campus, a 12-year bilingual school system from primary to senior high school was set up to replicate the KCIS education experience. This location has officially opened in September 2019. For the 2022-2023 school year, the student enrollment in grades 1 to 11 is 1300, with 350 faculty staff. There are 63 international teachers currently teaching at this campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Deliver Interactive Lessons: Develop and implement creative and interactive English lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs and interests of primary students, using a variety of instructional strategies and resources. Teach an average of 24 periods a week.
  • Language Skill Development: Facilitate the development of English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, through engaging activities, games, and authentic experiences.
  • Literacy Instruction: Teach foundational literacy skills, such as phonics, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension, using evidence-based instructional practices and differentiated instruction to support student learning.
  • Assess Student Progress: Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including observations, quizzes, tests, and projects, to monitor progress, identify areas for growth, and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Individualized Support: Provide individualized support and intervention to students who require additional assistance in mastering English language skills, collaborating with Chinese English teachers and support staff as needed.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues within the English department and across grade levels to align curriculum, share resources, and support a cohesive English language program.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to participate, establishing clear expectations for behavior and implementing consistent classroom management strategies.
  • Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement, fostering a strong home-school partnership to support student success. Complete weekly parent communication correspondence.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, stay current with best practices in English language teaching, and contribute to the school community.
  • School Culture: Contribute to the overall school culture by participating in school events, and initiatives, and serving as a positive role model for students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • TEFL/TESOL/CELTA is required (teaching credential e.g. QTS, PGCE, SACE preferred).
  • Previous experience teaching English to primary students preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of English language acquisition, literacy development, and language arts curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with young learners and fostering their academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning tools.
