Primary School English Teacher

Hobby School is looking for a candidate to fill in the position of English conversation teacher in primary school (Grades 1-5, 6-10 yo). The teacher will be work under the guidance of the coordinator of the International Primary Curriculum coordinator and the Dean of Academic Affairs for Primary School.

The primary school teacher position is a challenging, yet very rewarding task as the teacher will have to work with kids who don't speak English /1st grade/ as well as kids who already speak the language, though at various levels of proficiency /2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades/ . Class preparation is required, as well as giving and checking homework.

 

Because of the nature of the IPC program followed by Hobby School, the teacher will work closely with other primary school teachers (international and local alike), good teamwork skills and creativity are therefore of paramount importance.

He or she will also participate in extracurricular activities at the school, such as preparation for an annual English Olympiad, ABC festival, Spring and Drama festivals, different quizzes and competitions.

  • Native English speaker
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree preferably with a concentration in education (either major or minor)
  • Teacher’s certificate (TEFL Certification or TESOL certificate is acceptable)
  • Full-time teaching experience at primary school or kindergarten
  • A full year commitment or longer (preferably)
  • 2 references (at least one from immediate supervisor)
