Primary School Teacher

Hobby School is looking for a candidate to fill in the position of Primary school teacher (Grades 1-5, 6-10 yo). The teacher will be work under the guidance of the Dean of Academic Affairs. This is a full-time position and the teachers will have maximum 25 instructional hours per week.

The school encourages all its teachers to run an extracurricular activity/club of their choice.

The primary school teacher position is a challenging, yet very rewarding task as the teacher will have to work with kids who don't speak English /1st grade/ as well as kids who already speak the language, though at various levels of proficiency /2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Class preparation is required, as well as giving and checking homework. 

Because of the nature of the International Primary Curcciculum (IPC) program followed by Hobby School, the teacher will work closely with other primary school teachers (international and local alike), good teamwork skills and creativity are therefore of paramount importance.

He or she will also participate in extracurricular activities at the school, such as preparation for an annual English Olympiad, ABC festival, Spring and Drama festivals, different quizzes and competitions.

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree preferably with a concentration in education (either major or minor)

  • Full-time teaching experience at primary school or kindergarten
  • A full year commitment or longer (preferably)
  • 2 references (at least one from immediate supervisor

    Prior experience in teaching overseas, especially in the developing world countries woudl be a huge benefit alongside openness to new cultures. The school is a multicultural environment but with its predominantly (if not exclusively) Mongolian student body, respect for and understanding of local customs and traditions is expected.
