Primary School Teacher

We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic British qualified Primary School teacher to join our team at the Rafa Nadal International School on the beautiful island of Mallorca here in Spain.

The Rafa Nadal International School (RNS) can be found within the grounds of the Rafa Nadal Academy. RNS is a vibrant Anglo-American co-educational school focused on bringing out the best of each other, with the school’s philosophy based on the term “education” in the widest possible sense. We provide a high-quality Anglo-American international education for boys and girls from across the world aged 3 to 18 years. The British Primary school, Nursery through to Year 6, and American middle and high school, Grade 6 through to Grade 12. All classes are delivered in English by experienced native teachers. Role and Responsibilities:

  • The duties of the primary teacher may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

Instruction

  • Providing instruction to primary students, as requested
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position
  • Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many forms
  • Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives
  • Gathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needs
  • Remaining current with British National Curriculum standards and other instructional requirements
  • Supporting student learning through thoughtful planning and preparation and sound classroom management practices
  • Driving Personal Professional Development
  • Staying informed on the latest trends in Primary education
  • Strong IT skills are necessary (including technology in the classroom, and learning platforms such as Google Classroom).

Assessment

  • Assessing student progress
  • Maintaining updated grade books, tracking the data, drafting report cards, etc.
  • Assisting in conducting school-wide benchmark assessments when needed

Other Duties

  • Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, and parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement
  • Participating in school meetings as needed
  • Supporting students and administration in Positive Behaviour Intervention and Supporting philosophy
  • Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting
  • Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning community meetings
  • Assisting in orientation and open houses as needed
  • Modelling non-discriminatory practices in all activities
  • Performing other job-related functions as may be assigned
  • Serving as Team Leader if requested
  • Setting professional standards (dress, punctuality, etc.)
  • Community-Based Learning Initiatives
  • Assisting in the delivery of a curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of students

  • The salaries at school all follow the Spanish national guidelines in terms of pay scales. The pay increases when there is an increase announced across Spain.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Experience in a primary school setting
  • Flexibility and a team-spirit work ethic
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • UK Certification
  • Three or more years of teaching experience
  • Experience in differentiating instruction, and supporting students with learning challenges

Our School Day:

Teachers start at 8:00 and finish at 16:00. Teachers are expected to attend the weekly staff meeting (timetable permitting)
