PS/MS Physical Education Teacher

Teachers within the American International School of Mozambique are recognized, along with students, as the schools most valuable resource. Faculty members are recruited and offered employment based upon prior exemplary teaching performance. Teachers must be fully credentialed/certified for their respective assignments and must maintain both teaching excellence and credentials throughout employment. Typically, to be offered employment, faculty members must indicate a willingness to commit to three years of excellent service to our students.

Performace Responsibilities

Teachers are responsible for the following performance areas:

  • Provide research-based, best practices instruction to each student everyday
  • Embody, promote, and support the school’s mission and core values
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including curriculum design, instructional delivery, and assessment moderation as appropriate for the assignment
  • Use standards-based practices in planning, instruction, and assessment
  • Actively partner with parents to meet the needs of students and to promote the philosophy and goals of the school
  • Act in accordance to the three pillars of a PLC at Work
    • Utilize a focus on student learning as the driver of instruction
    • Contribute to a collaborative that comes alive in acceptance of collective responsibility to ensure high levels of learning of all students across the school
    • Willingness to look at student learning evidence to inform teaching and to determine the effectiveness of instructional practice
  • Utilize learner-centered, inquiry-based instructional approach to support student agency and personalized learning
  • Assist fellow teachers and administrators in the day-to-day operations of the school
  • Engage in continuous improvement and job-embedded professional learning
  • Willingly leverage student assessment evidence to improve teaching and learning
  • Extend student learning beyond the classroom through participation in the school co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
  • Be a contributing and supportive member of the school community by attending school events and engaging in the broader school community
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
